As a child, I was obsessed with mythologies and Egyptian mythology was no exception. I used to own a thick Egyptology book that had great illustrations and made the stories of the mythology were so interesting!

[SPOILERS FOR ‘JADE CITY’ BY FONDA LEE AND ‘THE DIVINERS’ BY LIBBA BRAY AHEAD]
AMUN-RA – CHARACTER WHO ENTHUSIASTICALLY INVOLVES THEMSELVES IN EVERYBODY’S BUSINESS
Ra is the falcon-headed sun god, the creator and he named five of his fellow gods.
Goodreads Link – Review to come.
Hiro really feels like the kind of character who, under another circumstance, would be up in your grill about your life. He’s rather curious.
OSIRIS – FAVOURITE DOWN-TO-EARTH MALE CHARACTER
Osiris is the god of death, farming, and vegetation.
I don’t know if he’s my favourite, but I do appreciate the lengths Kai went to, to protect his people, even when all he wanted to do was blow the moon up.
ISIS – FAVOURITE FEMALE CHARACTER WITH POWERS
Isis is the goddess of magic and fertility, as well as being the mother goddess.
Again, don’t think she’s my favourtie, but I feel like I need to talk about Nina more! Not only is she totally powerful, but she goes through development in her powers that was so interesting to see.
ANUBIS – CHARACTER YOU WISH YOU COULD BRING BACK FROM THE DEAD
Anubis took over as guardian of the underworld from his father, so he is the god of the afterlife and death.
Lan. My sweet sugar plum……why did you leave us ;A;?
SET – A CHARACTER THAT IS MORE DEVIOUS THAN THE ACTUAL VILLAIN
Set is the god of darkness, chaos, and storms.
Locke, hands down, was far more devious in his own pranks than any of the characters, including Madoc. While everyone else has such grand schemes and ambitions, Locke was simple but his manipulations were so clean that he made me more nervous than anyone else did.
HATHOR – QUOTE THAT BRIGHTENS YOUR DAY
Hathor is the cow goddess of motherhood, joy, happiness, music, and love.
I have a few:
- “Sometimes justice was all about the small victories.” ―
- “She still held sorrows, but she was not made of them. Her life was not a tragedy. It was a history, and it was hers.” ―
NEITH – CHARACTER YOU WISH YOU COULD RECEIVE LIFE ADVICE FROM
Neith is the goddess of the hunt, wisdom, weaving, and battle.
This may be surprising but Serpahina just seems like such a wise person, despite her limited understanding of the world. I think after the events of Shadow Scale, she’d be even wiser.
MA’AT – INJUSTICE YOU WISH YOU COULD RECTIFY
Ma’at is the goddess of truth, harmony, and justice.
To fix this book, I would have removed the love triangle and the character of Sam. Or at least fixed both thing so they wouldn’t be so obnoxious.
HORUS – FAVORITE BRIGHT/CHEERY BOOK COVER
Horus is the god of light and the sky, as well as the god of the Pharaohs.
Look at that smile! That’s cheerful enough for me!
THOTH – BOOK WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PROSE
Thoth is the god of wisdom, writing, magic and the moon.
Despite not finishing the novel, Taylor’s writing is really magical and the prose are not only beautiful but actually tell a story instead of just being decoration.
PTAH – BEST WORLD BUILDING
Ptah is the creator and craftsman of the gods.
The world of All Rights Reserved is terrifying and yet could absolutely happen. The author did a great job building the world.
KHONSU – BOOK YOU WISH YOU COULD READ FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAIN
Khonsu is the god of time and the moon.
Tess is one of my favourite books of all time and I just want to be able to experience falling in love with the novel all over again.
SOBEK – BOOK YOU WOULD SAVE FROM DROWNING (POSSIBLY OVER ANOTHER PERSON, NO JUDGEMENT)
Sobek is the god of the Nile and water.
This…is kind of a weird prompt so I’ll mention another one of my favourites! Although Remy and the rest of her Chimera partners would be just fine if they needed to swim.
I tag anyone who is/was also obsessed with mythologies!
